Ortiz Named To Silver Slugger Squad

Red Sox DH David Ortiz was named to the American League silver slugger team today… it is the fourth straight year he’s earned the honor.
The silver slugger awards are given to the top offensive players at each position as voted on by AL managers and coaches. The entire AL team consists of:
1B—Carlos Pena, Tampa Bay (1st award)
2B—Placido Polanco, Detroit (1st award)
3B—Alex Rodriguez, New York (9th award)
SS—Derek Jeter, New York (2nd award)
OF—Magglio Ordonez, Detroit (3rd award); Ichiro Suzuki, Seattle (2nd award); and Vladimir Guerrero, Los Angeles (7th award)
C—Jorge Posada, New York (5th award)
DH—David Ortiz, Boston (4th award)
The NL team consists of:
1B— Prince Fielder, Milwaukee (1st award)
2B— Chase Utley, Philadelphia (2nd award)
3B— David Wright, NYM (1st award)
SS— Jimmy Rollins, Philadelphia (1st award)
