My New “Favorite New England Barbeque Joint”
By Administrator | March 28, 2008
When I visit my mom in the Detroit, MI area, I love to stop in at The Tunnel Barbeque in Windsor, Ontario for their baby back ribs — and the best spicy barbeque sauce I have ever had.
Here in New England, until last weekend, I had to be satisfied with “Smokey Bones” — a chain restaurant with decent ribs and a pretty good mustard barbeque sauce… but not anymore. While visiting my brother-in-law in Springfield, MA, last weekend, I discovered Theodore’s Booze, Blues and BBQ on Worthington St, in downtown Springfield. All I can say is — fantastic!
The ribs were good… the bbq sauce (notably, the bourbon sauce) was outstanding.. and the music (courtesy of “Sharp Harp Jr and the Blades”) was great. Typical pub atmosphere with a stage at the front of the place. Great service. Lively crowd. If I lived in Springfield it would be my ‘new favorite hangout’… but since I live in the Concord, NH area it will have to suffice to be my “can’t-miss-it destination” when I travel to Springfield to see my nieces and nephews.
If you have been there, you know why I loved the place; if you haven’t been there, you need to go to find out why…
