Sox Injury Update: Youkilis Out Again, Dice-K To Have MRI (Masterson On Deck)
By Administrator | May 28, 2008
Kevin Youkilis was held out of the starting lineup this evening for the third straight game… Sean Casey was back at first base in Youk’s absence.
Youk was originally held out of Monday night’s game because of a pain in the top of his right hand.
He reports that he doesn’t remember how he hurt the hand.

The Red Sox report that Daisuke Matsuzaka will accompany the team to Baltimore after this evening’s game and then report to Boston on Friday to be examined by team physician Dr. Thomas Gill. He will undergo a precautionary MRI on his ailing right shoulder while he is in town.
Matsuzaka underwent some baseline strength tests on his right shoulder earlier today. Manager Terry Francona said that Dice-K’s test went well in comparison to the tests he took during spring training.
The Sox have a history of being very careful in these circumstances. It seems a near-certainty that he will be skipped in the rotation next Monday.
Tim Wakefield will likely be called on to start on Monday (on regular rest).
The Boston Globe is reporting that Justin Masterson’s PawSox debut has been moved from Saturday to tomorrow night — which would allow him to start in Boston on Tuesday on regular rest.
