Tim Russert: 1950 - 2008
By Administrator | June 13, 2008
I generally try to keep politics off my website because this site is about the Red Sox (specifically) and baseball (generally), not the political milieu.
Occasionally I will recognize an important anniversary or a memorable event — like the recent anniversary of the assassinations of Martin Luther King and Bobby Kennedy — but generally I eschew any discussion of politics, politicians and political issues.

The only thing better than lemon-filled doughnuts and a glass of milk on Sunday mornings was curling up on the couch with my wife and watching Tim Russert on “Meet The Press”
But whether you are a Democrat, an Independent or a Republican (presented alphabetically)… a conservative or a liberal (again, alphabetically)… an activist or an observer… in my opinion if you are an American who is politically aware then you had to LOVE Tim Russert.
He was an extraordinarily astute observer of the American political scene and how it affects our culture… an articulate commentator on politics and politicians… and a brilliant interviewer (the best damned interviewer I have EVER had the pleasure and privilege to enjoy).
For years I have looked forward to the Sunday Boston Globe, two lemon-filled doughnuts, a big glass of c-o-l-d milk, and “Meet The Press”… and (aside for my love for lemon-filled doughnuts) the primary reason for enjoying Sunday mornings was the anticipation of watching Tim Russert.
My Sunday mornings just are not going to be the same anymore.
My wife and I send along our condolences to his wife, Maureen, and his son, Luke. We did not know your husband / father, but in a small way he was an very important part of our lives. He will be missed in our small corner of the world.
