More Boorish Behavior From ManRam: ProJo Report Says He Manhandled Team’s Traveling Secretary

By Administrator | June 30, 2008

In today’s issue of the Providence Journal, reporter Sean McAdam is reporting that Sox left fielder Manny Ramirez manhandled the team’s traveling secretary (Jack McCormick) on Saturday, knocking him to the ground.

The report says that Ramirez asked McCormick to get sixteen tickets for that evening’s game — which had been sold out for months. Reportedly, McCormick cautioned Ramirez that he might not be able to fulfill a request of that size at the last minute… to which Ramirez responded by shouting “Just do your job!” and throwing a hissy-fit.

During an ensuing argument, Ramirez reportedly shoved McCormick — knocking him to the ground.

The two are said to have met later to clear the air. Ramirez is said to have issued an apology that was accepted.

McAdam reports that no further disciplinary action is expected against Ramirez.

This incident comes just a couple of weeks after Ramirez slapped teammate Kevin Youkilis in the face in the Red Sox dugout at Fenway Park, in full view of fans and the NESN television cameras. In that instance, ManRam had apparently had become tired of Youk’s pentient for grousing about calls by the home plate umpire and slamming equipment (bat, batting helmet) in response. The two teammates reportedly exchanged words… and at the end of the argument Ramirez slapped Youkilis. ManRam was seen being restrained and escorted down the runway to the Sox clubhouse by coaches and teammates.
