Breaking News: Sox, MLB Add Extra Security In Tampa In Response To Threat
By Administrator | June 30, 2008
The Boston Herald is reporting that the Red Sox received a threat through the mail targeting black and latino players on the team… allegedly pinpointing at least two specific players. Reporter Jeff Horrigan reports that the Sox and Major League Baseball have sent specialized security teams to Florida for the next three days in response to the threat.
He says that law-enforcement authorities have been looking for a suspect, believed to be a native of Baltimore, MD, but now living in the Memphis area… the mailed threat is said to have been postmarked from Memphis, TN.
Horrigan reports that officials believe the threat is unrelated to the skirmish between Red Sox and Rays players earlier this month in Boston.
