A-Rod’s Wife Files For Divorce
By Administrator | July 7, 2008
Cynthia Rodriguez has filed for divorce in the family division of Miami-Dade County Circuit Court… in her petition she said the marriage is over because of her husband’s extramarital affairs: “The marriage of the parties is irretrievably broken because of the husband’s extramarital affairs and other marital misconduct”.
The document declares that “(t)he petitioner has exhausted every effort to salvage the marriage of the parties”, but that the Yankees third baseman “has emotionally abandoned his wife and children and has left her with no choice but to divorce him”.
The filing of the petition comes just days after the Yankees third baseman was linked to Madonna. The AP is reporting that after the report linking Rodriguez and the “Material Girl” surfaced, Cynthia took a trip to Paris — to the home of rock star Lenny Kravitz (who later said that she went to France to escape the media frenzy in New York).
Rodriguez’s attorney in Miami, Ira M. Elegant, said he had not reviewed the divorce petition but added: “As you know, anyone can pay the filing fee and make allegations”.
Yesterday, Houston attorney Earle Lilly, recently hired to be Cynthia’s divorce lawyer, told a Houston radio station that A-Rod’s “relationship with Madonna was the final straw for Mrs. Rodriguez”.
The couple was married on November 2, 2002… they have two children, Natasha and Ella (born just two months ago). Cynthia has asked for primary custody of the children, as well as child support and alimony.
