By Administrator | July 20, 2008

In 1859, at a racetrack on Long Island, about 1500 fans became the first ever to pay to see a baseball game… the spectators spent fifty cents to watch New York defeat Brooklyn, 22-18.

In 1958, during the first game of a doubleheader, Tiger Jim Bunning no-hit the Red Sox, 3-0.

In 1965, Yankees’ pitcher Mel Stottlemyre hit an inside the park grand slam against the Red Sox en route to a 6-3 victory.

In 1966, the Beatles played their last concert ever at Candlestick Park… the ‘Fab Four’ would never again perform in public.

In 1970, Dodgers pitcher Bill Singer no-hit the Phillies.

In 1976, Hank Aaron hit his last big league homer off Angels’ hurler Dick Drago… the round tripper was Hammerin’ Hank’s 755th home run and established the all-time major league record for career home runs.
