Report Says ESPN May Take Joe Morgan Off Sunday Night Baseball Broadcasts

By Administrator | October 26, 2008

The NY Daily News is reporting that sources at ESPN are indicating that MLB Hall-of-Famer Joe Morgan could be yanked off the “Sunday Night Baseball” broadcasts.

Morgan, who has worked on the broadcast with partner Jon Miller for ninteen years, has two years left on his ESPN contract but may find himself assigned to another role than SNB. Writer Bob Raissman’s sources have indicated that Morgan might be shifted to the network’s midweek baseball telecast, where he would be teamed with a new play-by-play partner.

Miller may stay in the SNB booth with another partner (Rick Sutcliffe?) or be moved over to the ESPN-radio broadcast — where he has few peers… Red Sox fans may remember Miller’s excellence on Sox broadcasts years ago.

Over the years, Morgan has become increasingly unpopular — not only with viewers, but also with many of his colleagues at ESPN.

He is prone to on-air mistakes, which has caused him to come under some intense criticism from fans and increasing media scrutiny. His lack of preparation for telecasts is legendary with his co-workers. And lastly, he has consistently demonstrated a haughty attitude with those same co-workers — oft-times in internal ESPN meetings.

The decision-makers at ESPN may have found that they can no longer tolerate his incompetence… so the viewing audience may finally, at long last, get a reprieve from his inane droning.

Hallelulia!

I really hope they pull joe morgan I always feel anytime he talks on ESPN he is always onesided and I can not take stand how wrong he is. One game he kept calling Kevin Cash Vtek untill he was corrected in the 5th. Glad he is gone now we need to work on kicking tbs out of the playoffs and mlb!
