Despite losing to the NY Yankees, 8-4, the Red Sox managed to tie an American League record with four consecutive successful pinch-hitting appearances.

Pinch-hitters Scott Hatteberg, Lee Tinsley, Carlos Rodriguez and Chriss Donnels each had hits as part of the Sox seven-hit offense in the defeat.
