This Day In Red Sox History: December 19, 2001
By Administrator | December 19, 2009
Material for This Day In Red Sox History is drawn from Bill Nowlin’s “Day by Day with the Boston Red Sox”
After just having acquired shortstop Pokey Reese in a deal from the Cincinnati Reds, the Colorado Rockies traded Reese to the Red Sox in exchange for C/1B Scott Hatteberg.
Tow days later, the Sox non-tendered Reese, allowing him to become a free agent… ironically, Hatteberg was non-tendered as well, making him a free agent. Reese would eventually sign with Pittsburgh, and Hatteberg would becaome a member of the Oakland A’s.
