CharityWines.com and Longball Cellars have announced the introduction of two new wines for their roster of celebrity, fundraising wines.
Chardon-K is being released in support of The Josh Beckett Foundation.
ZinfandEllsbury is being released in support of the charities of CF Jacoby Ellsbury: the Navajo Relief Fund, Project Bread and the Ellsbury-Read Project.
None of the players involved with CharityWines.com profit from these sales… 100% of the proceeds go directly to the charities. To date, more than 30 professional athletes from across Major League Baseball, the NFL and the NHL have partnered with the company to help raise money.
The names Chardon-K and ZinfandEllsbury are word plays of the wine varietals in the bottles.
The 2010 wines are produced by the acclaimed winery Clos LaChance out of California. The wines will retail for about $14/bottle, and will be available across New England or on-line beginning in May.
The Josh Beckett Foundation supports community-based programs that strive to improve the health and well-being of children.
The Navajo Relief Fund assists residents and communities on the Navajo Reservation with initiatives that that combat poverty, education, healthcare and substandard housing.
Project Bread is the leading anti-hunger organization in the State of Massachusetts, dedicated to alleviating, preventing and, ultimately, ending hunger across the Commonwealth.
The Ellsbury-Read Character Strength Project has been established to ensure that character strength development receives priority attention from birth.
Baseball enthusiasts and wine aficionados may recall that Charity Wines debuted in Boston in 2007, with wines partnering with Manny Ramirez (Manny Being Merlot), Curt Schilling (Schilling Schardonnay) and Tim Wakefield (CaberKnuckle). In 2008, they released wines from David Ortiz (Vintage Papi), Jason Varitek (Captain’s Cabernet) and Kevin Youkilis (SauvignYoouuk Blanc).
To date, more than $1,400,000 has been raised as a result of athlete wines and their contributions.

I love these RED SOX wines! I have tried them all & I cannot wait to try these two! So far my favorite is the Ortiz’s Vintage Papi that benefits The David Ortiz Children’s Fund! I have one of each in my “BOSTON RED SOX sunporch room”! Cheers to charity and our Red Sox!
