Boston Trade Market — July 31st, Part 2: Gagne, Dye Coming To Sox?

ESPN’s Buster Olney is reporting that the Texas Rangers may be on the verge of sending Eric Gagne to the Red Sox. No names were disclosed, but he reported that the Sox have offered the best ‘package’ with less than two hours remaining until the deadline. He also reported that Gagne and agent Scott Boras do not view the pitcher’s contractual obstacles (no trade… games finished incentives) as being prohibitive—pointing out that Boras and the Sox worked together on the Matsuzaka and J D Drew contracts this winter.

Also, Olney is reporting that the White Sox may be on the verge of accepting the Red Sox counter-proposal for Jermaine Dye—Wily Mo Pena and Craig Hansen.

Stay tuned…
